Summer Bucket List

I put in my two weeks for my job this week. Yep, my friends, my time in the hospitality world is done. I got a call this week asking if I was still interested in a position I had interviewed for a while back, and decided to accept the position.

I learned a lot about hospitality and have a lot to say as far as information you should consider if you are interested in working in the field, as well as information you should consider when staying in a hotel, but I’m going to save that for a later day.

I’m mentioning all of this here, because the biggest difference with this job transition is that I am moving to a Monday to Friday office job, after having about two weekends off and one holiday (Gus’ birthday) from October to June. I am so excited to have my weekends back and am already scheming to plan out every weekend from now until Ries starts his graduate program. Here are a few things on my list:

  • Take Gus to the Zoo

  • Go to the Indiana State Fair (Ries thinks he’s been, but has he walked through alllllllllll of the exhibit buildings? I think not.)

  • Take Ries and Gus to Cannon Beach! (I have been dying to take Ries there since like, ever.)

  • Go on a hike (preferably in Oregon)

  • Have a picnic

  • Go to the Farmers’ Market twice a month

  • Visit Nashville (I still have so many places I want to go!)

  • Visit Chicago (Hi, um, I WANT TO GO TO THE SHEDD AQUARIUM.)

  • Visit Madison (It’s kind of really up there, so I’m not sure this is going to be accomplished, but I really would like to know what the hype is about…especially in the Midwest. Wisconsin? Really?)

  • Go to a small town festival (Roachfest? Look it up people. It’s a thing. But not necessarily a thing I want to attend.)

We are going on a trip out to Oregon at the end of July, and I am so excited because we haven’t been out since before I got pregnant with Gus, which is going to be almost two years. I have a lot of places I want to go to and things I want to see there as well, but I’m trying to keep my Oregonian enthusiasm under wraps.

What’s on your summer bucket list?
