WILW: Coolhaus Ice Cream
Most people don’t know, I have a hereditary impulse condition called “being a sugar monster.” Let’s be real here. My mom makes ice cream and sells it as part of her living, and I’m the kind of person who is more likely to take my pants off and run around the house with them on my head after eating a bag of jelly beans than doing a keg stand. It’s a real problem.
I think my ice cream snobbery began, at a reasonable time, when I was pregnant. I made the mistake of picking up a pint of Jeni’s ice cream and after that, it was game over. Ben and Jerry’s tastes like freezer burn now.
Anyway, for my fellow ice cream snobs out there, I encourage you to give Coolhaus a shot. Since the Fourth of July, Ries and I have tried the Chocolate Molten Cake (for when you can’t get enough chocolate), Campfire S’mores, Bananas Foster (probably my favorite), Milkshake and Fries (which was unique but was a little heavy on the fries), Street Cart Churro Dough, and Midnight Munchies (bless the person who invented this flavor.)
I really appreciate the creative flavors and even if I don’t necessarily love one flavor, I really enjoy getting to try out something new and different than vanilla with some random sweet thrown in.
In Bloomington, I find Coolhaus at Fresh Thyme and Lucky’s, but if you’re outside of Bloomington and want to give it a shot, you can order ice cream on their website, or use their locator to find a grocery store near you that sells this delicious ice cream.
